2012 67th Annual Salmon Festival Parade

Since it's beginning in 1944, as a sports day to raise money to build a playground in Steveston Park, the Steveston Salmon Festival has been the highlight of summer events in the community for over 60 years. Today, it is one of the largest non-profit Canada Day celebrations in Canada. The Steveston Salmon Festival Parade is a mainstay event and attracts visitors from around the lower mainland and further across the Pacific Northwest. The Parade marches off at 10am sharp from Garry Point Park and winds through the village of Steveston past the Community Centre to Railway Avenue. With over 100 entries on an annual basis, the Parade takes nearly two hours to complete! All along the parade route, people are thrilled by the exciting variety of entries: from military colour guards, to beautifully decorated floats, to marching bands, vintage vehicles, celebrities, sports teams, politicians and other dignitaries, community and cultural groups.
