2012 Richmond Ship-To-Shore Festival

Leading this year’s flotilla was two popular tall ships that are familiar to Steveston visitors—the majestic Hawaiian Chieftain and the Canadian Navy’s colourful HMCS Oriole. Also on view were a pair schooners, the Mallory Todd and Grail Dancer; the historic SS Master steam tug; the Silver Ann, a gillnetter currently being restored at the Britannia Heritage Shipyard; and the Juanita, a replica Spanish longboat, saluting one of the original European explorers of the BC coast. The Shady Isle Pirates mighty mini-brigs, Liberte and Adventure, were also there in fine style recovered from battle damage in Washington and braving poor weather. The Shady Isle pirates delighted the large crowds with mock naval battles and dockside entertainment.
