The Shady Isle Pirates are an all-ages registered non-profit family friendly society based in Steveston, British Columbia.

Our mission is to promote and preserve nautical heritage while raising money for charitable and cultural organizations by experiencing maritime culture and arts from a hands-on re-enactment approach.

In addition, we are actively operating the mini-brigs, Liberte and Adventure in messabouts, and in festivals, as well as working on costuming, historical weaponry, dance and traditional music. Hundreds of hours go into maintaining the brigs each year from her volunteer crews. A percentage of any monies raised are donated to nautical heritage sites, charitable organizations and cultural projects in our community and abroad.

AYE!! COME PIRATE WITH US! Join us TODAY!

We are always looking for nautically minded individuals who are interested in "messing-about" in boats, sharing nautical traditions such as music and shanty singing, costuming, learning the art of sword-fighting or participating in festivals and raising money or volunteering for local charity events and nautical heritage organizations.

In honour of International Talk Like a Pirate Day 2013 ,the Gulf of Georgia Cannery invited young and old to participate in a weekend o’ fun activities this past Saturday and Sunday. The Shady Isle Pirates were on hand with the mini-brig Liberte and Adventure, giving cannon firing demonstrations, telling tall tales, playing a wee bit of shanty tunes, and providing a swashbuckling good time! — at Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site.

Aye! The Shady Isle Pirates had brought their award winning pirate hidewaway into Steveston during the 68th annual Steveston Salmon Festival Parade.

The Steveston Salmon Festival Parade attracts visitors from around the lower mainland and further across the Pacific Northwest. The Parade is a mainstay of the Steveston Salmon Festival. The Shady Isle Pirates placed 3rd in the Grande Award in the event this year! Thanks to the volunteers, and all the participants who made this year's parade such a success! It was tough in the heat for everyone - and thank you thank you parade organizers for having water and food ready at the end for all the groups!
